There are seven principles of Xeriscape: 1) Plan a low water, low maintenance design ; 2) Evaluate soil and add compost or peat moss as needed; 3) Create practical turf areas, using grass that is native to your area; 4) Pick appropriate plants-Use Zone appropriate plants and group according to their water needs; 5) Water efficiently - set up a watering system with timers; 6) Use organic mulches; 7) Schedule Maintenance as needed to maintain the look you desire
